It all Starts with the Trees

The old trees that give the grove its character
With the cool onshore breeze from the west, the old grove is always a cool place to hang out
But when it's time, new replaces old
In early spring the trees put on buds - millions and millions of buds
Bee hives sit among the trees to help with pollination
Buds turn to flowers, each of those are open for only one day. The bees turn much of the pollen into honey - really good honey - and help the trees by spreading the rest to other open flowers.
A small fraction of the flowers become fruit, and some of that will be damaged by hungry insects. But we never spray to save a little fruit.
Most of the survivors become No. 1 fruit and show up in grocery stores around the U.S.
While the young fruit matures, Claire stands on rodent patrol to run off any hungry squirrels.
